Las Vegas in Macau

When night fell in Macau, there was nothing left to do but hop through all the numerous casinos that dot the city.

Having only seen the leaf-looking building (Grand Lisboa Hotel) from afar, we were enchanted to finally get up close to the site and admire its gaudy but captivating display of light patterns on the shiny, gold facade.

Like a gold leaf rising from a ball of fire... the Grand Lisboa Hotel

Me and Simon

We visited more casino hotels and at Wynn Hotel we arrived in time to check out the water fountain and light performance.

Come dinnertime, we stumbled on a classy restaurant called Rossio at the MGM Hotel. We couldn't resist the luxurious lobster buffet dinner that was featured that night. The decor was contemporary and the cuisine served were deliciously opulent.

Amongst the array of buffet dishes, we had all the foie gras (very expensive duck liver), lobsters and freshest sashimi you can eat. It was our first time tasting the foie gras and although it tasted really nice and creamy, I couldn't dismiss the flashing image of an obese duck with its unnaturally bloated liver out of my head!

We had all stuffed ourselves silly with the best food in town and were ready to sit back and relax to some fantastic live jazz music at a nearby bar.

It was a wonderfully fruitful day in Macau, but we were not going to leave without first trying our luck at the casinos! Me and Andy quickly lost our small capital at the big wheel and pokies but thankfully Simon won enough to cover our taxi to the ferry dock on our way back to Hong Kong island.
